A local manufacturing company approached us complaining of a lack of contact from their current insurance broker. Having visited the premises and read the current insurance policy, we identified serious underinsurance and numerous breaches of policy warranties that needed attention, the client therefore agreed to transfer his policy to Douglas Insurance Service. We reviewed all covers and sums insured, made the client fully aware of policy warranties, and attended the insurer’s survey a week later when we were able to agree a revised security warranty under the policy which reflected the actual protections present at the premises. In addition, having identified that the client’s health and safety arrangements were inadequate, we had brought to the survey meeting a full draft health and safety policy document and full examples of real general risk assessments for a similar business. As expected, the surveyor insisted on a full review of the health and safety policy and risk assessments, and we were able to demonstrate a very significant start point to help the client achieve these requirements.
